Managed Services Definition

A managed service is an IT service that is provided on behalf of a company by an external provider, a so-called managed service provider (MSP).

This service is a recurring service, i.e. it is usually provided every month. The exact scope of service provision is regulated in a service level agreement (SLA). The MSP provider must be selected according to the requirements defined here.

Managed services comprise various IT services that are mainly provided from the cloud. Examples are cloud computing, data backup or IT security services. Advantage: Only the services that are actually needed are purchased. In contrast to complete outsourcing, the company retains control over its own IT.

What is a Managed Service Provider (MSP)?

A Managed Service Provider (MSP) offers its customers precisely defined services in advance. The range of managed services can cover a broad spectrum. There is another important advantage that speaks for MSP: In contrast to classic outsourcing, no jobs are cut or certain departments of a company are outsourced.
