SME Day 2026: AI Meets SMEs

On August 26, 2026, the Idar-Oberstein Trade Fair focused on the question: How can artificial intelligence be used in small and medium-sized businesses in a concrete, meaningful, and cost-effective way?

We were also on site at the 2026 SME Day and had numerous exciting conversations with companies from the region. The focus was on specific AI use cases, current challenges, and the question of how initial ideas can be turned into real projects and measurable added value.

The event demonstrated just how diverse the possible applications have become—and that collaboration between companies, technology partners, and researchers is more important than ever.

We found the one-on-one conversations and the open discussion about individual requirements and possible next steps to be particularly valuable.

Our Conclusion

AI is no longer just a topic for the future. The key is to identify the right use cases and deploy the technology strategically where it creates real added value for the company.
