Cloud Report 2025 by Bitkom
The new Cloud Report 2025 from the digital association Bitkom clearly shows that cloud models have long been the basis of German corporate IT. Already 9 out of 10 companies (90%) use cloud applications, and in five years' time, this will affect all companies without exception. Private cloud models are particularly in demand (74%), followed by public cloud (59%). More and more companies are also relying on hybrid cloud models (29%) and multi-cloud strategies (41%) to ensure flexibility, reliability, and independence from individual providers.
The figures make it clear: cloud models are not only a tool for increasing efficiency, but also a key success factor for digital transformation. Around 47% of IT applications already run in the cloud today – by 2030, this figure will rise to almost 60%. At the same time, the importance of the cloud is growing for innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, CRM, and web conferencing, which are increasingly being provided from the cloud. The study also makes it clear that the majority of companies prefer a cloud from Germany or Europe in order to reduce their dependence on US hyperscalers. Security, compliance, and data sovereignty play a decisive role in choosing the right cloud models.
