We have a job opening for a morning position. As of right now, pretty much all of the applicants that we have are fresh out of college. The ones that are looking for 2nd jobs, don't have very good tapes.
So, where do I look for these people besides the usual job sites? We don't pay shabby and have lots of good equipment. If the right person comes along, the morning spot could fetch $30,000 plus clothing allowance.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. If anyone has any interest, please PM me for details.

I'd say that's doable. Use your networking skills! Put a bug in everyone's ear. Word spreads fast, and if someone is out there looking to make that kind of move, you'll find them. If you're comfortable (and management is) in posting the whole listing here, you'd be putting the gig in front of many eyeballs. Or you could pm interested parties more information. We just hired someone in a 170s market with 8 years experience to do weekends! It certainly can happen, and I think 30k for a fulltime morning gig would be a decent second job for many who have crappy situations at their current job. Good luck!

I could think of a weekender in the 110ish market with at least 15 years under his belt....

Would RDALE qualify for that?

From this:
the morning spot could fetch $30,000 plus clothing allowance
I would gather 100 to 130???

It certainly wasn't in our plan. We got lucky! She wanted to be closer to family. [ July 17, 2007, 06:17 AM: Message edited by: sandwichpick ]

Great place to work if you like weather!

I got hit with severe weather yesterday and am finally getting back to this. Thanks for all the responses.

The weekender has been here for 45 days. She is doing a good job, quickly improving and has tremendous potential, but is still a rookie that needs some more training.

30k and you wonder why you can't get experience? Until this profession starts to pay experience will be hard to come by.

Well, for those that are at their first job and still making $20,000 or less, $30,000 is a nice pay raise, especially in a place with a low cost of living.
Is this great pay for a job with the training we went through? Heck no since my college roommate in computer engineering started at $57,000 and I started at $18,000. But for a 150s market, I don't think that is bad for someone looking for a second job.

Exactly. That's not bad for a someone who's had a couple years experience at a beginning spot making beginning pay. Some markets that size pay their chief a similar salary, at least right out of the gate.

If this is the shop I think it is, this would not be a bad move for an experienced weekender wanting to do wx 5 days a week. (If I have the right shop, I went to school with the morning person they had ~5 years ago).
The cost of living is cheap (which also means there might not be a whole heck of a lot for a single person to do outside of work), the computer system is very good (lots of toys for its market size-especially when severe wx strikes), and the chief has solid rep for being a decent guy.
Not a bad stop; especially if the pay is 30K. [ July 18, 2007, 05:03 AM: Message edited by: Ping-Pong Ball ]

If Gunz hasn't left yet, give him some extra ribbing before he leaves from Deuce. I think my name is on his diploma somewhere to recognize the back aches I got from carrying him through ISU...
