Ok, I cannot stand the word "storm front". A viewer called and I tried to correct her and she got mad. Anyway I hate this word. I don't know how it has come into the world of weather but IMHO it needs to leave.
Got any others that drive you nuts?

I had a viewer once accuse me of "making up such a silly word" when I referred to our precip as graupel.
I'm not a fan of when news anchors refer to lake effect snow as a lake effect system...technical and it just bugs the heck out of me for some reason.

I love Graupel. I never really heard of it until i went to Missoula for my first job. If a viewer thinks it isnt a word (all of us know what it is) tell them to look it up!

Oh that was the best part though. He said "I got a dictionary and I was looking all over for it and I couldn't find it anywhere!"
Obviously he couldn't spell it...which I guess for someone not versed in it is understandable...but it was the "making up silly words" that got me. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

in my last job, the camera operator was distracting me purposely, so instead of saying "showers and thunderstorms" I somehow managed to say "Shlunderstorms" It was the last word I said on the 7 day before cutting to commercials so it sounded pretty dumb I`m sure!

I've found myself accidentally combining thunder & storms in the word thunderstorm, resulting in the word "thorm." I then proceed to hit myself on the head as punishment.

I used the term "Snizzle" on the air last night and was politely informed by a viewer, via e-mail, that there is ANOTHER meaning for that word. Follow this link: What snizzle REALLY means if you dare! ![[Eek!]](eek.gif)
