Alright, so I'm sure we've all received the "I don't like this and that about you" e-mail, or the I think you do a good job one.
Have you ever received an e-mail that completely creeped/freaked you out?

I used to have this lady that emailed me on a regular basis. Just to be nice I replied most of the time. Just idle chit chat... UNTIL! she started saying things like.. "Why did you wear that tie again? You wore that tie last Tuesday." She became a little agressive with her tone and it really freaked me out about her keeping a log of what I wore and when.. It got to the point she would actually give me the dates of what I wore.. ex: You wore that tie on 3/14 and then again on 4/11 and then again on 4/25...
Edit: And then there is always Scott Tucker...nuff said. [ October 06, 2006, 04:10 AM: Message edited by: itelltheweather ]

this one!! I taunted Mother Nature yesterday at noon about no more 90's this year. This is what I got:
Good afternoon! As promised, I did tune in to the noon news and weather...just in time to hear you tell Mother Nature to "take her best shot"....OOOOOOO way bad idea...for many reasons...LOL Are you aware that there are over 100,000 practicing Pagan people in this state, over half of whom live in your viewing area? These people honor the Feminine Divine, and an "in Her face" attitude like that is deeply offensive to the Old Religion part of the population. Speaking as a Druidic priest of nearly forty years' service, I found it to be offensive, and surprising coming from a man of your educational level. It would be understandable coming from a backwoods preacher with a fourth grade education and "the Holy Ghost"... but from a professional with an advanced scientific degree? Do they not teach manners in university any more? I know that Christianity is the dominant religion in the area, but there are Buddhists, Hindu, Shinto, Wiccan, Druid, New Age people, all of whom honor God as both Mother and Father. Most of these people do not build big churches, they do not cram their belief structure down anybody's throat, in fact evangelism is considered to be rude and the mark of a spiritually unevolved person by most of the abovementioned sects. They don't picket, they don't boycott, they don't sue, but they do know how to operate a TV remote. They are doctors, lawyers, psychologists ( I have an MS in psychology myself), chiropractors, vets, small and large business owners... in other words, many are also potential advertisers... most are probably now former viewers. Nobody is asking you to walk on eggs here, but a modicum of respect for other people's belief systems would be appreciated. How would you feel if a local celebrity came on air and make remarks like about Jesus Christ? Would your proverbial hackles not rise just a bit? (I'll guarantee you that no Pagan would ever consider doing something that offensive to YOUR belief system, whether we agree with it or not. It's just bad form. ) I am also sure that you meant no offense, but the weather coming in the next months might make you want to reconsider your remark to the Mother... We'll see... Anyway, have a good day, and please in the future, try to think before you speak... Thanks for your time.

Wow, ok never thought about that angle to the creepy e-mail thread, but that was quite disturbing...
I was talking more to the stalker variety...
I have this gay guy(no that there is anything wrong with that, but I am not gay) that constantly e-mails me.
I replied back once saying that I wasn't gay and that I would appreciate not receiving e-mails anymore.
Today was a little creepy...I won't get into details but it made me a little uncomfortable to say the least. It has gotten worse and I want to end this before things get out of hand...Any suggestions? I've already put a block on the e-mail address.

Blown Away,
I'm not sure there's much more you can do unless he is threatening you or harassing you. You've told him to stop emailing you, make sure you save a copy of that email, and all others from him so that there is documentation in case anything does happen.

Well it is at the point of harrassment...I have given a copy of the e-mail to my ND so it is documented through the station...I'd rather not have the hard copy or any copy of these e-mails in my inbox.
Never had a stalker before, but man it is unsettling... I try to stay low profile so these things don't happen...
Why do I have to be so damn good looking and irresistable??? ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

Someone at our shop(not me) got a letter from a guy who wanted to go out on a date. His return address was like 1342 and 1/2 Elm Street. Maybe he was related to Harry Potter or something. The best part was at the end where he said if your not gay and offended by this please don't call to curse and yell. Classic! We still have it in the weather office.

I had a guy that would email me once a week. It seemed harmless at first, but then he would ask for "private pictures" of me, etc. It was gross. Save them, whether they are emails or hand written letters. I think the most frustrating thing is when we get emails like that, they know what we look like, but we have no idea what they look like.. creepy.
Of course it could've just been tv10 in my case ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

No creepy e-mails here just yet...and no complaints from me...I'm hoping it stays that way!

The creepy thing is that this "fan" was more than likely an old man sitting in his underwear emailing me!

This one was interesting...
Hi XXXX, It looks like they're getting a lot of rain to the east of us. Hey, I've got a question: Where is the record of temperatures? Is there a database somewhere where the average temperatures over the decades has been recorded? I am genuinely skeptical of 'global warming'. The reason I'm so distrustful is because, as a voracious reader and consumer of news, I see so much reporting by the mainstream media that I have to conclude that much of it is agenda-driven. For example, I went to a protest in Lansing, MI where there were over 20K people protesting a state bill that would kill sovereignty of private schools. So a Catholic school, for example, would have to hire a Muslim or homosexual. There were people of all kinds there. The media had the cameras fixed on about 1/2 dozen Hari-Chrisnas with thier characteristic garb and never did I see them pan the crowd with the camera crew. So the next day on USA TODAY, 20 homosexuals protesting in San Francisco were on the front page! So I went to the state section and not even a mention. Amazing, eh? Then I went to Manzillo Bay in Mexico and saw a power plant spewing a horrible brown cloud into the atmosphere that was leaving a wall-of-pollution that renered the southernly view invisible. My friend's wife is high up at Corning Inc. and they moved to China for a few years and had to worry about heavy metals in thier water. And all the reporting I'm seeing on environmental issues is bashing the US. It doesn't make sense, unless you consider there may be an agenda in the media. So, I'm wondering where can I go to see the actual record of mean temperatures and how far back does it go? (I know Accuweather doesn't believe in global warming.) And did you ever read about the winter of 1757? I guess that was a humm dinger.

I've gotten some good ones...
First was a letter that started out all polite and nice: "I like your weather forecasts... I'm really interested in weather... I was wondering if you could tell me more about this storm..." Then at the end he wanted to know if he could ask me some personal questions, which included: Do you like wearing lingerie? Have you ever worked at Hooters? Would you ever consider posing in Playboy?
Freaky!!! You can't make that stuff up.
Then recently I got an e-mail that went something like this: "do you wear shoes when you do the weather. do you wear shoes in the car when you drive to work..."
Needless to say, he went immediately onto the blocked senders list ![[Razz]](tongue.gif)

Granted still disturbed about the whole thing, I appreciate your replies. It is good to know that some other folks here have had similar situations...The question I have from here is...Did it stop? Once you blocked the address did the e-mails stop or did they find other ways to harrass you?

I got a love letter once. The lady told me she worked at a Great Clips at the mall and her shift. Before responding back to her, I had a buddy of mine who is a total dirt check her out. He told me she was cute, so I knew to stay far away.
I never responded. A few weeks later she showed up at the station with a care package. All I can say is that if she is what my buddy thought was cute, I would hate to see ugly.

Can't block snail mail. Our market is home to two maximum security prisons. I get some interesting love letters from inmates... but I don't like dropping that soap.

I once had a letter stamped "inmate correspondence".... in that letter a 68 year old inmate named Dorothy told me that my "hair and face" were the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. She also reminded me that older women make better lovers several times in the letter.

I've had an email from a guy saying he started up a fan club dedicated to me... though I'm sure he's the only member. I've also had some guys send me creepy pictures of themselves. Lets hope it never goes further than that.

There are all fine and creepy, but have you ever been propositioned for sex?
(No, really -- read on.)
I'm checking my email on a Friday night after the late show. It's from a viewer who emailed to say she was sad to say that she was leaving. She enjoyed my work and was going to miss me once she moved away.
Being a friendly fellow, I emailed back, thanking her, and asking the polite question of where she was going and why she was moving away. She replied that she was a former Miss Ohio or something, and she originally moved to town because of her aunt's health, but she had to move back east to go back to school and so on. Naturally, I replied saying I hoped she did well back east and to thank her for her comments.
I was totally not prepared for another reply from her, especially the part where she said she'd always dreamed of, well, getting past third base with a TV weatherman and asking me if I would let her... well, you know, hit a triple and head for home.
Being the modern man that I was at the time, I said sure, come on over! (No, actually, politely passed. I'm a bit too old-fashioned for that kind of thing...)
But really, scary!!
