Her sister-in-law. Good thing that person didn't come in a few seconds earlier, we wouldn't have got the "control freak" line. ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

Depends. If she just chewed him out for something that wasn't his fault...she pretty much got what she deserved. It takes a little while, but most of the talent realizes sooner or later that you do not piss off the folks that make you look good.

I've always made it a point to be super nice to the audio guys and girls....heck, on occasion it's drinks on me for a night. But in this case, I am curious why a network mic was left on...could very well be accident....but my vote is that it wasn't. CHEERS TO THE AUDIO GUY ![[worship]](graemlins/icon_pray.gif)

A former mayor here -- at the time chairman of the transit agency -- did the same thing. He was wearing a wireless mike and headed for the john. His efforts there were sent out, into the speakers of the meeting. He never wore a wireless mike again.

The audio guy and the director have to be toast after that. It sounded like audio actually turned down the president to hear what was on Kyra's mic...and the director wasn't listening to what was on air - if he had been it would have been a two or three second glitch.

I have to agree with 2:30. I thought I heard the President's audio went down, but I wasn't sure.

Let me offer an "uneducated" guess here. When Philips left the set, Kagen took over. They are both wearing wireless mics. But on the audio board there is one pot that says "Anchor mic". All anchor mics are on this one pot. So when the audio operator brought up the anchor mic for Kagen, Philip's mic also went up. Kyra was talking so we heard her. Daryn was not talking. They wanted Kagen to talk so the operator continued to bring up the anchor mic (thinking it was Kagen). He was unable to pot up Kagen without bringing up Philips. I dunno... It's possible.

This is great. I have done audio for news for 20 years. One morning i heard our wx girl in the bathroom(NOT ON AIR), just in que mode. Yes, i was listening in. Hey, I was just checking the mic like i was supposed to, right? No one even knew. The best solution is WIRED mics. but most of our idiot stations today love wireless. Even with wireless, each anchor should have their own mic. Just a screw-up. I hope no one gets fired. Or maybe they are going Parkervision and the audio person is pissed off. Anything is better than another boring speech from Bush.

Yes, it's possible but I can't see them having only ONE pot for the anchor. I would think CNN would be smarter than that. I would assume there was an assigned pot for each person.

Ok I know this kind of thing is an innocent mistake/snafu, but seriously, why does this stuff ALWAYS seem to happen to CNN? When they aren't flashing X's over the Vice President's face, they're leaving mics on in the bathroom. Someone on that technical staff needs to get their act together.

Here's a scenario i hope DOES NOT play out- no repercussion for the over paid anchor and some tech person gets fired. We go through this all the time where i work. If you are wearing a mic, ALWAYS watch what you say, no matter if in a commercial break, bush speech, end of the world coming, etc. Talent has to share this responsibility. Most mics have a mute button, but their policy may not allow an anchor to touch it. Why not leave the mic at the desk? I know anchors are lazy but it's a simple solution. This aint rocket science, just TV!

Bet all of CNN's viewers had some chuckles over that one. Well, 4 anyway, one probably only turns on the hearing aid for Larry King.
