MELISSA MAGEE has moved to New York to be a meteorologist for WNYW (Fox). Prior to coming to the Big Apple, Melissa was a national meteorologist for AccuWeather in State College, PA. A UCLA graduate, Melissa got her start in weather in nearby Bakersfield, CA, before making the move east to Pennsylvania.
LIZA FERNANDEZ recently moved to San Francisco to be the morning meteorologist for KRON. Prior to that, she was a morning anchor and reporter for KMPH in Fresno.

Former WNYW weekend sports anchor REISCHEA CANIDATE has moved to the national level to join ESPN in Bristol, CT. Reischea, who is a graduate of the University of Southern California, will anchor for ESPNews.
MOSHE ARENSTEIN has been promoted to Line Producer of Hardball with Chris Matthews. Moshe, who was a captain in the Israeli Defense Forces and holds a Masters from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, has been with the show for four years.
HEIDI WATNEY is the newest addition to the New England Sports Network (NESN) team. During baseball season Heidi will serve as the network's lead Red Sox reporter, providing live reports during each game as well as the nightly pre-game and post-game shows. In the off-season, she will contribute as a host and reporter for the regional cable network. Heidi comes to Boston from Fresno, CA, where she worked as a weekend sports anchor at KMPH (Fox) and talk show host at ESPN Radio 1430 AM after graduating from the University of San Diego.
KELSEY STARKS has joined WHAS (ABC) in Louisville as the weekend morning anchor/weekday reporter. Previously, Kelsey was a reporter + anchor for WCIV (ABC) in Charleston, SC, where she was the station's lead reporter for the Democratic Primary Debate (at The Citadel) and WCIV's coverage of the tragic Charleston fire that killed 9 firefighters. A native of the Bluegrass State, Kelsey received a bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky and a master's from Northwestern University.
SHEP MESSING signed a new deal with MSG Network and will be a part of the network's coverage of the New York Red Bulls. A former star goalie with the NY Cosmos, Shep will serve as an in-game and studio analyst for the 7th consecutive season.

moved to another Newport station, WTEV/WAWS in Jacksonville in March.
WEYI-TV, Clio (Flint) MI...LINDSAY MOORE has been promoted to ND for this
Barrington Broadcasting owned NBC affiliate. She replaces DON SHAFER,
who left the station (along with about half the staff) in cutbacks
last month.
WGGB-TV, Springfield, MA...veteran news director DAVID BAER returns to a
newsroom as ND for this Gormally Broadcasting owned ABC station.
Dave's a former news director in (most recently) Portland, ME, and
has also run newsrooms in Providence, Indianapolis, Buffalo, and

She is no stranger to Pennsylvania as she previously worked at WHTM in Harrisburg. HARRY BOUNDS is the newest member of the KARK weather department in Little Rock, Arkansas. Bounds will forecast for the KARK 4 Today weekday morning newscast at the NBC affiliate. Harry jumps 69 markets as he comes from KNDU in Kennewick, Washington where he was the morning meteorologist. JEN BATES jumps 57 markets to KWCH in Wichita, Kansas. Bates is the new Sports reporter/fill-in anchor for the CBS station. Jen also comes from KNDU in Kennewick, Washington where she was the weekend sports anchor. GREG CHANDLER is the new weekend sports anchor at KQDS in Duluth, Minnesota. station this week, along with more than half of the staff in a dramatic
newsroom reduction. Many of you know Don, who's been an ND in San Diego,
Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, and Green Bay.
KRNV-TV, Reno, NV...here's a newsletter first, as we report someone's hiring
and departure in the same newsletter. ERIC HUSEBY started here as ND
in February, and we were remiss in not reporting that to you then.

JOHN ANDERSON, 1 a.m. host of “SportsCenter” on ESPN, has been named host of the upcoming prime time reality competition, Wipe Out, launching on the ABC television network on June 24 at 8 p.m. EST.
JENNIFER LOPEZ has been named weekday morning meteorologist at KXAS, the NBC O&O in Dallas/Ft.Worth. She is currently a meteorologist for The Weather Channel. Jennifer begins her new duties in June.

director. He’s been named President of Killian College in Sioux
Falls, South Dakota's only community college with 450 students.
Mark's a past RTNDA Chairman, and will leave KELO 25 years to the
day after he started at the station as an intern.
KOBI-TV, Medford, OR...another longtime news director, DAN ACKLEN, has
left this NBC affiliate after more than four years as news
director here. Dan tells me he’s retired, at least from TV. He’s a
former news director in Seattle, Cleveland and Portland who
returned home to Oregon a few years ago to be close to family.
NEW NEWS DIRECTORS NAMED:
WNYW/WWOR-TV, New York, NY...officially announced that veteran NY ND DIANE
DOCTOR will be its next ND. She’s a former ND at both WNBC and
WCBS. This move reunites her with LEW LEONE who was the GM
when both were at WCBS. She replaces SCOTT MATTHEWS who left
the station in January for a job at CNN. In addition, the
stations named JIM DRISCOLL Vice-President. He has been the ND
for WWOR.

WHTR-TV, Indianapolis, IN...congratulations to CAROLYN WILLIAMS who's been named
ND for this Dispatch-owned NBC affiliate. She's been the Assistant ND
here since 2000, and the interm ND since her new boss, GM JIM TELLUS, was
promoted to that job earlier this year. Carolyn's a former ND at KOTV
in Tulsa, and has also worked at in Dallas and Tucson.
WSEE-TV, Erie, PA...veteran reporter SCOTT BREMMER has been promoted to ND for
this CBS affiliate. My records show JOHN CHRISTIANSON had been ND for
this Initial Broadcasting owned station since September, 1999.

Hartford, Providence, Toledo, and Steubenville, OH.
WGGB-TV, Springfield, MA...this ABC affiliate is looking for a news director.
KATHY TOBIN, who's been in that job, is returning to anchoring full-
time.
NEW NEWS DIRECTORS NAMED:
WLNE-TV, Providence, RI...B.J. FINNELL returns to Providence as the news
director for this ABC affiliate. He also returns to working with
STEVE DOERR, the GM for this Global Broadcasting-owned station.
Steve was the ND at WOIO/WUAB-TV in Cleveland, where B.J. is now
the Assistant ND. And they once worked together at WCAU-TV in
Philadelphia. Earlier in his career, B.J. was the ND for WJAR-TV
in Providence as well as WVIT-TV in Hartford. He replaces ED HART
who left the station in December after three years as ND.
KRDO-TV, Colorado Springs, CO....MICHAEL SIPES heads west to take over the
news department for this News Press & Gazette Broadcasting ABC
affiliate. Michael spent the last seven years as ND for KMBC-TV
in Kansas City before leaving that job last October. He's also
been a news director in Louisville and Jackson, MS. At KRDO, he
replaces DAVID ROSE who left the station last month after almost
12 years as news director.

WCSC-TV, Charleston, SC...MARY RIGBY is leaving this CBS affiliate at the
end of May, to join her new husband who is a physician in Greer, SC.
She's worked at WCSC since 1997, and was promoted to ND a little
more than two years ago. WCSC is currently owned by Lincoln
Financial Media, although a sale to Raycom is pending.

Fort Wayne, IN, and Wausaw, WI. Rick's also worked in Nashville,
Cincinnati, Madison, and Wausaw, WI. He replaces JODY DAVIS who left the
station in January after less than a year as ND. Rick becomes the
station's fourth news director in two years.
KQTV, St. Joseph, MO...BRIDGET BLEVINS has been promoted to news director

WEWS-TV, Cleveland, OH...STEVE HYVONNEN is leaving this Scripps-owned ABC

KVIA-TV, El Paso, TX...BRENDA de ANDA has been promoted to news director
for this News-Press & Gazette owned ABC affiliate. She's been
the Ass't. ND here since 2002 and has worked there for ten years.
Brenda replaces another longtime KVIA employee, ERIC HUSEBY, who's
been ND since 1999 and worked there for 17 years. Eric is leaving
for a new job which should be announced soon.
KNWA/KFTA, Fayetteville, AR...BROOK THOMAS has been promoted to ND from
Assignment Editor for this Nexstar-owned NBC/Fox duopoly. He replaces
SCOTT PICKEY who left the station last November after about 18 months
as ND.
WTXL-TV, Tallahassee, FL...KEITH WHEELER is the first of three former ND's in
this week's newsletter who's returning to the ND chair. Keith has
been named News Director for this Calkins Media owned ABC affiliate.
He most recently has worked in PR for Disney in Orlando, where he'd
earlier worked as Associate Managing Editor/Online for the Orlando
Sentinel. He's previously been a news director at WHP-TV in Harrisburg,

where she began as a technical director and worked her way up, eventually

KODE/KSNF, Joplin, MO...anchor JIM JACKSON is the new news director for this
Nexstar-owned ABC and NBC owned duopoly. He's been the main evening
anchor there for 28 years! He replaces LARRY YOUNG who passed away
last month after a long career in Joplin television.
KTTC/KXLT, Rochester, MN...NOEL SEDERSTROM also returns to an ND's job as he
joins this Quincy Newspapers-owned NBC/FOX duopoly. Noel most
recently was ND at WWMT-TV in the Kalamazoo/Grand Rapids, MI, market.
He served eight of his 18 years at the station as ND. Noel tells

NAAMUA DELANEY has joined CNN where she is anchoring for CNN.com. Previously, Naamua was one of the co-hosts of iVillage Live.
NISCHELLE TURNER is the sideline reporter for a special on the world famous “Harlem Globetrotters.” The special will be seen on My Network on January 28th.
ANDREW LURIA joins KOVR as sports reporter and anchor from KCOY in Santa Barbara where he anchored the morning news. A Cornell graduate and avid sports fan, he is very happy to get back to reporting on sports.
COURTNEY ZUBOWSKI returns home to Houston to KHOU as a general assignment reporter. Courtney leaves sister station KTVK in Phoenix where she also was a reporter.
