KXLN-TV, Houston, TX...REY CHAVEZ left this Univision station earlier this month after four years as ND. He plans to travel. Rey previously was the EP for KMEX-TV in Los Angeles.

NEW NEWS DIRECTORS NAMED:

KRIV-TV, Houston, TX...as we reported earlier in the week, TOM DOERR has been named VP/News Director for this FOX o-and-o. Tom's a veteran ND who most recently had served as VP/Station Manager for CBS's Miami duopoly. He's been an ND in Houston earlier in his career, as well as in Dallas, Washington, Miami, San Antonio and Tulsa, and also spent three years as a consultant with AR&D. At KRIV, he replaces KATHY WILLIAMS who left the station in March after seven years as ND. She's now the Assistant ND for KPRC-TV in Houston.

WGNO-TV, New Orleans, LA...RICK ERBACH returns to the ND chair as he moves to The Big Easy and this Tribune-owned ABC affiliate. Rick most recently was ND for WGCL-TV in Atlanta, a job he left about a year ago. Rick's also been an ND in St. Louis, and worked for CNN Newssource. He replaces BOB NOONAN who left the station in May to become Assistant ND for WREG-TV in Memphis.

KCEN-TV, Victoria, TX...DON BRADLEY is the new ND for this Saga Communications owned ABC affiliate. Don had been ND for KCEN-TV in Waco until last May. Previously he spent 16 years as an ND in Ft. Wayne. He's also worked in Memphis, St. Louis, Louisville, and Hartford/New Haven. At KCEN, he replaces DOUG TISDALE who left the station in May.

WISH-TV, Indianapolis, IN...in a move we first alerted you to in an emailed UPDATE last Monday, KEVIN FINCH is leaving this LIN-owned CBS affiliate to return to working on documentaries. He's joining Calamari Productions. The move reunites him with KAREN GRAU who heads the company: they've worked together in the past. Kevin was promoted to ND here in February, 2007.

NEW NEWS DIRECTORS NAMED:

KDKA-TV, Pittsburgh, PA...we emailed you about this move on Thursday: COLEEN MARREN will be the next ND for this CBS o-and-o. Coleen most recently was the ND for Hearst's WCVB-TV in Boston, a job she left at the end of 2008. She'd been the ND there for eight years and had earlier served as an ND in Milwaukee and Hartford. She replaces JOHN VERRILLI who traveled the reverse path and headed to Boston as ND for a sister CBS o-and-o, WBZ-TV, earlier this year after four years as ND for KDKA.

WJAR-TV, Providence, RI...CHRIS LANNI has been named Content Brand Manager for this Media General owned NBC affiliate. He replaces longtime 'JAR ND BETTY JO CUGINI who was laid off from the station last April after eight years as ND.

KGPE-TV, Fresno, CA...CHAD McCOLLUM has been promoted to ND for this Newport-owned CBS affiliate. He had been the Assistant ND here, and has previously worked in San Diego and Los Angeles. He replaces JIM HOLLAND who left the station last month after six years as ND. Jim returned to Texas as ND for KCEN-TV in Tyler, TX.

David anchored previously in Tampa & Milwaukee. He comes from KGUN in Tucson, Arizona where he was Assistant News Director.

LAUREN MAYK becomes the evening news anchor for SNN Local News 6 in Sarasota, Florida. Previously, Lauren anchored and produced SNN Good Morning and covered business news for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and The Philadelphia Inquirer. Mayk continues to write her economy blog, Recess This and report business news stories on SNN.

KTEN-TV, Denison, TX...this Lockwood Broadcasting owned NBC station is advertising for a new ND. STEVE KORIOTH has been the ND here for almost four years. He'd previously worked in Huntsville, Tucson, Dallas and Chicago.

NEW NEWS DIRECTORS NAMED:

KPTV/KPDX, Portland, OR...COREY HANSON has been promoted to News Director for this Meredith Broadcasting owned FOX/MyNetworkTV affiliate. She's been the EP of Special Projects, and has also worked as EP and Creative Services Director there. Corey replaces PATRICK McCREERY who was promoted to GM last October.

WMAR-TV, Baltimore, MD...KELLY GROFT will be the next ND for this Scripps' owned ABC affiliate. She's currently the Assistant ND here and has been at the station almost ten years in a variety of roles, including producer, Executive Producer, and Ass't. ND. She replaces PEGGY PHILLIP who is moving to another Scripps station after one year as ND here. More on that in the next entry. (And apologies to Kelly, whose last name I misspelled in an emailed ND List UPDATE earlier this week.)

KSHB-TV, Kansas City, MO...as noted above, PEGGY PHILLIP is moving from Scripps' WMAR-TV in Baltimore to become ND for this Scripps-owned NBC affiliate. The move allows her to be closer to her parents in South Dakota. In addition to one year as ND in Baltimore, Peggy's also been an ND in Memphis, Syracuse, and Tulsa. She's also worked in Reno, Miami, Boston and Chicago. At KSHB, Peggy replaces RICK ILER who left the station in March after almost a year and a half as ND.

KNOE-TV, Monroe, LA...another promotion from within finds MARLA GILCREASE moving up to ND for this Hoak Media owned CBS affiliate. Marla as been the Assistant ND and Production Manager here, and also served as Assignment Manager. She's also worked in Shreveport. WAFF-TV, Huntsville, AL...MIMI STRAWN is leaving this Raycom-owned NBC affiliate in June to return to New Orleans for family reasons. She's been the ND since last October, and has previously been a news director in New Orleans and Tulsa. Mary Cavallaro and Dave Frankel of Montgomery McCracken are pleased to announce some recent client news.

NFL Hall of Fame sportswriter Ray Didinger has joined Philadelphia’s Comcast SportsNet as a full time analyst. Ray has been a free lance contributor for CSN since the network signed on in 1997. His expanded role will include work on air and online. Didinger, widely regarded as one of the nicest people in the business, will continue to co-host his popular Saturday radio show with long-time partner Glen Macnow on SportsRadio 610 WIP.

It’s a Detroit homecoming for Emmy Award winning Meteorologist Lori Pinson. Lori has joined WWJ-TV, where she will help launch First Forecast Mornings on May 5th. She previously worked in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. Lori was most recently at WGAL-TV in Lancaster, PA. While in Baltimore, Lori learned sign language to develop a groundbreaking program to bring severe weather information to the hearing-impaired. Her honors include the NWA Broadcaster of the Year Award and Associated Press Awards. Lori holds a seal from the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association, for which she is also an evaluator.

Skylar Zwick is the new 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. anchor at WTVY News 4 in Dothan, Alabama, where she joins Reginald Jones on the desk. Before joining the News 4 team Skylar was an anchor/ reporter at KDBC-TV in El Paso. Raised in Florida, the University of Miami graduate began her broadcast career as an investigative intern at WTVJ in Miami. Skylar is also nationally recognized for her success in forensic debating, having won more than 40 local and national tournament championships.

KSHB-TV, Kansas City, MO...Citing personal reasons, RICK ILER resigned this week as news director of this Scripps' owned NBC affiliate. Rick's been ND here since August, 2007. Before moving to KC, Rick had been the Assistant ND at KPHO-TV in Phoenix. He's also a former ND at KARK-TV in Little Rock.

KWQC-TV, Davenport, IA...MIKE WRIGHT has left this Young Broadcasting owned NBC affiliate after almost a year as ND/Station Manager. Before moving to Davenport, Mike had been the Assistant ND for sister Young station WKRN-TV in Nashville.

We're also removing, at least for now, the listings for both KMPH-TV in Fresno and KDBC-TV in El Paso, TX. WFMY-TV, Greensboro, NC...GINA KATZMARK has resigned as ND of this Gannett owned CBS affiliate. She's been the ND here for 3 1/2 years and had earlier been the ND at WBTW-TV in Florence, SC.

Ft. Wayne, IN....this Nexstar owned FOX affiliate is looking for an ND/Anchor as it is planning to start a newscast.

WHOI-TV, Peoria, IL...JOLIE ALOIS is leaving her job as ND for this Barringon owned ABC affiliate. She's been named Development Director for the Easter Seals of Central Illinois. Jolie has been the ND here for the last three years and was EP there before that. She's also worked in St. Louis.

She's a former ND in Grand Rapids, MI, Cincinnati, Orlando, and Hartford. Lyn tells me she's going to explore the next chapter in her life in Columbus, where her husband is an attorney.

WTAJ-TV, Altoona, PA...TONY DEGOL has left this Nexstar owned CBS affiliate. He had been the ND there since 2004 and had served as the EP there before that.

NEW NEWS DIRECTORS NAMED:

KDVR/KWGN-TV, Denver, CO...CAROLYN KANE returns to a newsroom as VP/Content for this LocalTV/Tribune owned Fox/CW duopoly. Carolyn was ND for KOLD-TV until December, 2000, when she left to take a job with TechTV in San Francisco. She most recently has been President and EP of SPC Productions in San Francisco, where, according to an article in The Denver Post: "...she produced reality based original content and 'infotainment' for TV and the Web." Carolyn replaces BRAD REMINGTON who left the stations to become Executive News Director for KTVK-TV in Phoenix.

WEYI-TV, Clio (Flint/Saginaw) MI...JEFF REINARZ has been promoted to ND for this Barrington Broadcasting owned NBC affiliate, replacing LINDSAY MOORE who left the station in November after seven months as ND. Jeff has been the Creative Services Director here.

KMID-TV, Midland, TX...KARL RUNDGREN has been promoted to ND for this Nexstar owned ABC affiliate. Karl has been the interim ND since MEL HUDMAN left the station last summer. He (Karl, that is) is a former anchor and Managing Editor for WUPW-TV, the Fox affiliate in Toledo.

KRCG-TV, Jefferson City, MO...weekend anchor LADD EGAN has been promoted to ND for this Barrington Broadcasting owned CBS affiliate. He'll replace GREGG PALERMO who left the station in November after two years as ND.

KDKA-TV, Pittsburgh, PA...we first reported that JOHN VERRILLI is being promoted to sister-CBS o-and-o WBZ-TV in an ND List UPDATE earlier this week. John's been ND here since late 2004, and previously worked for three stations in New York, including WCBS-TV. At WBZ, he replaces JEFF KIERNAN who was also promoted to a larger CBS station, WBBM-TV in Chicago. (John's move means there are now two ND openings in Pittsburgh, Hearst's WTAE-TV being the other.)
