Newly Named News Director:
KYMA-TV, Yuma, AZ...and the Yuma hat trick goes to LUIS CRUZ who returns for his third run as ND at the same station! Luis has previously been ND here from 2004-2006 and then again from 2008-2011. He left the station last year to be a reporter and fill-in anchor in San Diego, but Luis tells me he missed management and mentoring young journalists. He replaces JENNIFER MUSA who was ND here for four months. KYMA is an NBC affiliate owned by Intermountain West Communications Company. Luis also worked at the company's NBC station in Las Vegas between his first two stints as ND at KYMA.

KSNW-TV, Wichita, KS...JASON KRAVARIK is leaving one New Vision TV station for another. He's been named Assistant ND for the company's station in Portland, OR, KOIN-TV. Jason has worked at KSNW for ten years and was promoted to News Director three years ago. He began there as a reporter. Jason's also worked in Amarillo, TX, and as an associate producer in Chicago.

WITI-TV, Milwaukee, WI...JOHN LaPORTE takes over his second Milwaukee newsroom as he's been promoted here. John's been the News Content Manager for this LocalTV owned FOX affiliate since September, 2010. From November 2003-January 2005 he was ND at WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee. John's also been an ND in Palm Springs, CA and Eau Claire, WI, and has worked in Houston, Albany, NY, Green Bay, Hartford, and Omaha. He replaces JIM LEMON who resigned in December to avoid another Wisconsin winter.
KOLO-TV, Reno, NV...congratulations to JENNIFER HARDY who returns to Reno for her first ND job at this ABC affiliate. Jennifer also stays within Nevada: she's been the Assistant ND for KVVU-TV in Las Vegas since 2009, and worked there since 2006. Jennifer's also worked in Spokane, Memphis, Tulsa, Tucson, and an earlier job in Las Vegas. She began her career at KRNV-TV in Reno. At KOLO, she replaces DAVE BEECH who left late last year after three years as ND. Jennifer becomes the seventh ND in ten years for the Gray TV owned station.
KRCG-TV, Jefferson City, MO...veteran news director JOHN SHELBY will be the next ND for this Barrington Broadcasting owned CBS affiliate. John's been an ND in Buffalo, New York; Green Bay, Wisconsin; Cedar Rapids, Sioux Falls, Lansing, and Pasco, WA. He's also worked in Chicago, St. Louis, and Columbus, OH. At KRCG, he replaces LADD EGAN who left in November to return to his native Utah and a job at KUTV. John is the fourth ND in five years here.

KGO-TV, San Francisco, CA...we told you in an UPDATE earlier this week that KEVIN KEESHAN has left this ABC o-and-o to become the ombudsman for NBC News. Kevin's been ND here for almost eleven years and has worked at KGO for a total of 21 years, interrupted by a three year assignment as sister ABC o-and-o KFSN-TV in Fresno. He's also worked in Bakersfield and Sacramento, spent some time as an anchor and consumer reporter, and is one of the few NDs who often attends the valuable IRE conference. WTXL-TV, Tallahassee, FL...another veteran newsman is making a cross country trip, as BILL CUMMINGS is leaving this ABC affiliate to take a job in Yuma, AZ. (More on that below.) Bill's been ND here for almost three years. WTXL is owned by Calkins Media.

KSWT-TV, Yuma, AZ...BILL CUMMINGS is taking the 3:10 to Yuma to become the ND for this Pappas owned CBS affiliate. We reported above he was leaving his job in Tallahasee. Bill tells me he's wanted to move west for family reasons: his brother and in-laws live in Tucson, his oldest son is in California, and another brother lives in Reno. Bill's a former ND in Tucson, Evansville, IN, Huntington, WV, and Tri-Cities, TN, and also worked for weather vendor Baron Services. He replaces SHANNON MAZE who left the station almost a year ago for an Assistant ND job in Birmingham.

KMTV, Omaha, NE...AL CARL has left this Journal Broadcasting owned CBS affiliate after two years as ND. He's a former ND in Huntsville, AL, and worked in Kansas City before moving to Omaha.
WTVY-TV, Dothan, AL...KATIE McMANUS FAYE is leaving after seven years as ND here. She's moving to her native Illinois for a job at WICS/WICD in Springfield (more on that below.) WVTY is a CBS affiliate owned by Gray Television.
WCAV-TV, Charlottesville, VA...another Gray Television station has an ND opening. My records show that JIM HANCHETT had been ND here for just over three years. WCAV is a CBS affiliate.
Newly Named News Directors:
WSB-TV, Atlanta, GA... MARIAN PITTMAN, who's been the ND here since 2006, has been promoted to station manager. Marian has been with Cox for 23 years in a variety of roles at several of the company's stations.
And another Cox veteran, MIKE DREADEN, was promoted to ND to replace her. Mike's been Managing Editor here since 1998, and previously worked in Miami and New York. Those moves meant a step up for some other WSB employees: MISTI TURNBULL was promoted from Senior EP to Managing Editor, REENA BHARDWAJ to Senior Executive Producer, and TINA COMMODORE to Manager of Coverage and Content.
WICS/WICD, Springfield/Champaign, IL...Illinois native KATIE McMANUS-FAYE returns home to become the Executive News Director for this Sinclair owned duopoly. Katie is currently ND for WTVY-TV in Dothan, AL (see above). She's also been an ND in Jackson, TN, and Sarasota, and has also worked in Nashville, Miami (two stations), Tampa, and Dallas. Katie replaces DEANA REECE who announced in September she'd be leaving after four years as ND.
KWES-TV, Midland-Odessa, TX...DAVID MARINO has been promoted to news director here. He's currently an anchor there but will eventually concentrate on the management side. David's a Texas native who worked for KWES before taking a job in Tucson a few years ago. At this Drewry Communications owned NBC affiliate, he replaces MARK KURTZ who left in December after almost four years as ND. Mark is joining WAVY-TV in Norfolk as Assistant ND.

JENNIFER HORBELT moves to KOAA in Colorado Springs/Pueblo, Colorado. Jennifer will co-anchor the weekday AM show, News 5 Today for the NBC station. The award-winning Horbelt comes from WPSD in Paducah, Kentucky where she was the weeknight evening anchor. FATIMA RAHMUTULLAH goes to Omaha, Nebraska and KMTV. Rahmatullah will be the Morning Reporter for the CBS affiliate. Fatima worked as a reporter at WRCB in Chattanooga, TN and WTVM in Columbus, GA. DANIEL FIORUCCI moves to Anchorage, Alaska and KTUU. Fiorucci will report for the NBC station. Daniel previously worked as a writer/producer for WCAU in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. DUKE CARTER is the newest reporter at WCJB in Gainesville, Florida. Carter comes from WVLA in Baton Rouge, LA where he was a reporter. AMIR ABBAS moves to West Virginia and WVVA. Abbas will report from the Beckley bureau for the NBC affiliate. MIchigan native Alan Longstreet is returning to his home state, making an amazing 180-market leap from Parkersburg, West Virginia, to WJBK, the Fox O&O in Detroit, where he joins the staff as a Weekend Meteorologist. Longstreet also worked in South Bend, Indiana after graduating from Central Michigan University.
Anchor/Reporter Jamie Lynn Drohan is trading the Tennessee Valley for the Pacific Northwest, leaving WATE/Knoxville for Fisher's KOMO (ABC 4) in Seattle. Drohan's a New Jersey native who got her start in musical theatre and hosting before catching the news bug, and she's already earned a number of awards for her reporting.
Finally, Tiffany Teasley is starting the new year with a new adventure in Orlando, where she'll join WOFL, the Fox O&O, as a Reporter later this month. For the past two years, Teasley reported for WXIX in Cincinnati. She's a proud graduate of both the University of Michigan and Northwestern, where she received her Master's from the Medill School of Journalism.

He's been ND for this ABC affiliate since 2005, and earlier worked as the ND for Belo's WVEC-TV in Norfolk, VA. Michael's first ND job was in Evansville, IN. He’ll continue at WFAA until his successor is found.

WJFW-TV, Rhinelander, WI...after almost 21 years at Magid, JOHN QUARDERER is moving home to Wisconsin and becoming ND for this NBC affiliate. Rhineland is home for John and he told friends he and his wife are excited to be back. Earlier in his career, John was on the faculty of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and was ND for KOMU-TV. He also was an ND in Salinas, CA, and an EP in San Francisco. John replaces HEATHER SCHALLOCK who left the station after 12 years as ND for a job out of TV.
WTOV-TV, Steubenville, OH...MIKE BOTHWELL remains with Cox as he has been named ND for this NBC affiliate. KWES-TV, Midland, TX...MARK KURTZ is leaving this NBC affiliate to become the new Assistant ND for WAVY-TV in Norfolk. That's the LIN Media-owned NBC station there. Mark spent almost four years as ND for this Drewry-owned station. He's also worked in Waco and Corpus Christi, TX.

KDFW-TV, Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX...as we first reported to you yesterday, ROBIN WHITMEYER will be the next ND for this Fox o-and-o. At KDFW, she replaces another longtime ND, MARIA BARRS, who served as ND for 13 of her 17 years at the station. Maria left in August to become GM for KXTV in Sacramento.

He's been ND for this LocalTV owned station since 2005, and earlier had been an ND in Sacramento, Honolulu, and Topeka, KS. His last day at WITI will be December 16th.
WLNE-TV, Providence, RI...this Citadel Broadcasting owned ABC affiliate is looking for a new ND. IRENE MAHONEY-PAIGE has left the station after just four months as news director. Her replacement will be the fourth ND in just over a year.

Michael replaces CINDY AUBREY who left the station in July after eight years as ND to take a job with the city of Colorado Springs.
KTSM/KDBC-TV, El Paso, TX...LAUREN MACIAS-CERVANTES returns to a newsroom as the new ND for this ComCorp owned NBC/CBS duopoly. For the last five years she's been working for a non-profit organization in El Paso. She began her career as an intern at KTSM, worked at KDBC while in college, and after graduation moved to KFOX-TV in El Paso for nine years. Lauren started there as a producer and rose to EP. She replaces HOLLIS GRIZZARD who will help Lauren with the transition before leaving the stations. Hollis was ND there for two years and will announce his next job soon.

Steve’s been the ND here for more than ten years, and earlier worked for WKMG-TV and WFTV in Orlando. I’m told that Steve wanted to retired when he reached age 56, which he will next month, though he’ll stay on during the transition to his replacement.
KCOY/KKFX-TV, Santa Maria, CA…JOHN ZUCHELLI is leaving this Cowles-owned CBS/FOX duopoly. He’s returning to KNTV in San Jose/San Francisco to work as the Assignment Manager. That’s where he worked before moving to KCOY/KKFX. John’s been ND here for almost six years. He’s also worked at KCRA-TV in Sacramento.
KRCG-TV, Jefferson City, MO…LADD EGAN is returning to his native Utah as Southern Bureau Chief for KUTV, the CBS station in Salt Lake City. Ladd has been news director for this Barrington Broadcasting owned CBS affiliate since January, 2009. He also co-anchors the 5:00 newscast. Ladd first joined the station in 2006. His replacement will be the fourth news director in five years.
WTOV-TV, Steubenville, OH…BRANDON GOBEL is leaving one Cox Media Group owned station for another. He’s transferring to sister-station WSB-TV in Atlanta where he’ll be an executive producer. He’s been the ND for this NBC affiliate since September, 2007, and was an EP for the station for two years before that.

From there, Katie held reporting jobs in Bath and Bethlehem, PA before a 5-year stint at AccuWeather in State College, PA. She holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in geosciences from Mississippi State University.
It's be a reunion of sorts for NICOLE FERGUSON, who heads back to WGHP in Greensboro as a reporter and fill-in anchor on the station's new morning show. Nicole worked at the Fox affiliate before departing for Nashville to report at WTVF. Nicole is thrilled to be back home and is looking forward to re-connecting with the community.
LOWELL GALINDO returns to his home state as the inaugural lead anchor at the Longhorn Network, which will be operated by ESPN. The San Antonio native has intimately followed the University of Texas his
entire life, and he was able to keep a close eye on UT in his previous role as the #1 anchor at ESPNU.
NICK GRIFFITH moves west to take over as the sports director at KDVR, the Fox affiliate in Denver. He comes from KMBC in Kansas City, where he was the lead sports anchor. Prior to that, the Indiana native and former college baseball player was the sports director at KTKA in nearby Topeka, KS.

ESPN veteran takes on a new role in the company and become the lead anchor at ESPNU. Long one of the most trusted college sports guys in Bristol, Dari will now fulfill his passion at ESPNU's headquarters in Charlotte. Dari will also continues his duties as a talk show host on ESPN Radio and play-by-play announcer for several events throughout the Year.
DEB PLACEY jumps from the New York Islanders to the New Jersey Devils and will be the team's pre- and post-game host and in-game reporter on MSG. Deb comes over to the Devils after spending a decade on Long Island in a similar role with the Islanders. She also serves as a co-host for "NHL Live", airing daily on both NHL Network and NHL Radio. Deb has also worked as a studio host for the NHL on Versus, in addition to filling a multitude of other roles during her 16 years with MSG.
Houston Astros radio voice DAVE RAYMOND called the first-ever University of Texas women's softball game to be broadcast on the ESPN operated Longhorn Network in late August.
ANISH SHROFF is tackling a new role at ESPN, moving to Charlotte to become a host at ESPNU and add more play-by-play assignments on college sports. A Syracuse graduate, Anish has been with ESPN since 2008.
After two years in Hartford, BEN SOSENKO goes cross-country to become a reporter at KOVR, the CBS O+O in Sacramento, CA. Most recently, Ben was a jack-of-all trades at WVIT — in addition to serving as a news reporter during the week, he was the station's weekend sports anchor since the start of the year. A Miami native, Ben's previous stops have included Westchester, NY, Grand Forks, ND, and Scottsbluff, NE.
NFL Network named LINDSAY SOTO the co-host of its flagship "Total Access" show on Fridays and Saturdays. In addition to her work with NFLN, Lindsay can be seen on Fox Sports West, Versus, and NBC Sports.
MIKE TRIM was recently announced as the Weekend Morning Anchor at WPTV, the market leader in West Palm Beach, FL. Mike moved to the Sunshine State a little more than a year ago as a reporter — in addition to making a name for himself out in the field, he quickly became one of the station's most relied upon fill-in anchors before moving into this new position full-time.
CLARISSA WARD has been named CBS News Foreign Correspondent. Beginning in December, she will report for CBS News broadcasts and platforms across the division, including 60 Minutes. Ward most recently served as the Asia correspondent for ABC News and was based in Beijing. She has also spent time in Afghanistan, and served as ABC News' Moscow Correspondent during the 2007 Russian presidential election.
STEVE WEISSMAN served as a tennis play-by-play announcer for the 2011 U.S. Open on ESPN3 and DirecTV. Since joining The Worldwide Leader in January 2010, Steve has anchored "SportsCenter" on ESPN, hosted "College Football Live", and appeared on ESPN2's "First Take" and "Mike & Mike in the Morning", among a handful of other assignments.
ADRIAN WHITSETT was named the co-anchor of KETV's 5 pm weekday news cast in Omaha, NE. In addition, Adrian will file reports for the station's 6 pm and 10 pm shows. Born in Hawaii, Adrian grew up in Omaha and — after a stint in the military — attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
